Frazada Rug – Handwoven Statement Piece
Frazada rug made from traditional virgin wool. Originally crafted as an Andean blanket – today a powerful centerpiece for the living space.
Origin & Craftsmanship
This rug was also originally woven as a Frazada – a traditional Andean blanket used for protection from the cold.
Each piece is created through elaborate handwork using traditional techniques and tools.
As a result, every rug is unique in pattern, color gradient and details.
Size & Shape
The length varies within the traditional range of approximately 152.0 m to 166.0 m.
Due to the handcrafted production, design and dimensions may vary slightly or may not
be perfectly symmetrical – a visible sign of authentic craftsmanship.
Material & Structure
The dense, substantial structure is reminiscent of a kilim and feels considerably more robust than a
soft textile.
The wool provides durability and a distinctive, tactile surface.
Design & Room Effect
The horizontally arranged patterns feature subtle variations that create a
balanced and visually calm composition.
The natural colors are created using pigments from:
• Insects
• Plants
• Seeds
With its larger surface area, this rug acts as a central design element in the room.
Particularly suitable for:
• spacious living areas
• open-plan spaces
• rooms with clear, calm interiors
Note
Irregularities in dimensions, shape or pattern are characteristic of genuine craftsmanship and highlight the one-of-a-kind character of each rug.
