A small companion with a story rooted in the Andes. URKU is more than a soft toy — it is a handmade expression of culture, sustainability, and care.
Lovingly handcrafted in the province of Bolívar, Ecuador, each alpaca amigurumi is created by artisan women using traditional crochet techniques. Made piece by piece, every URKU carries the time, skill, and dedication of the hands behind it.
Crafted from leftover wool, each alpaca features its own unique color combination and personality. No two are alike — a reflection of both sustainable practice and artisanal individuality.
The name URKU, meaning “mountain” in Kichwa — the language of indigenous Andean communities — connects this piece to its cultural roots. Alpacas and llamas play an essential role in these regions, supporting both local livelihoods and the preservation of highland ecosystems.
Each URKU comes with an official certificate (available in German, Spanish, or English), sharing the story behind the piece — from the cultural significance of alpacas to the traditions of Andean craftsmanship.
A meaningful gift for both children and adults, URKU brings warmth, story, and purpose into any space.
